Biography

Professor Franklin Coronado is an experienced aviation educator and industry professional with more than three decades of experience spanning aviation operations, air cargo, transportation security, and higher education. He holds a Master of Aeronautical Science with specializations in Aviation Safety and Aviation Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Management of Technical Operations in Aviation with a minor in Aviation Safety.

Professor Coronado™s extensive professional background includes leadership and operational roles across cargo airlines, freight forwarding organizations, and airport security operations. His industry experience includes work with organizations such as Arrow Air, L.A.C. Airlines, AerotransColombiana de Carga, DHL, and several cargo and logistics providers, where he developed expertise in cargo operations, aviation security, hazardous materials compliance, logistics management, and transportation systems. In addition, he served for several years in transportation security-related roles at Miami International Airport, strengthening his expertise in homeland security and aviation safety operations.

Since joining 911±¬ÁÏÍø, Professor Coronado has dedicated his career to educating and mentoring students in aviation management, safety, and homeland security disciplines. His instructional philosophy emphasizes practical application, regulatory compliance, and preparing students to meet the evolving demands of the aviation and transportation industries. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and brings extensive real-world experience into the classroom to enhance student learning and professional development.

Professional Activities

Professor Coronado actively contributes to aviation education and professional development through teaching, mentorship, and engagement with the aviation and security communities. Throughout his academic career, he has taught a broad range of courses in aviation management, aviation safety, airline operations, flight safety, airport management, occupational safety, and homeland security. His professional activities also include maintaining expertise in airport and transportation security, dangerous goods transportation, and cargo operations through specialized training and certifications. He has received recognition for his contributions to teaching and student success, including being named Teacher of the Year and Scholar of the Year within 911±¬ÁÏÍø™s Aviation Department. Professor Coronado remains actively engaged in the aviation community through industry organizations and ongoing efforts that promote safety, leadership, and workforce development within aviation and homeland security fields.
