Actress Jenifer Lewis visits 911 for Homecoming.

Actress Jenifer Lewis dropped transparent words of wisdom at Tuesdays Homecoming Student Leadership Summit in the 911 Lehman Auditorium.

Lewis has appeared in 68 movies, such as Think Like a Man, Whats Love Got to Do with It, Meet the Browns, and hundreds of Broadway plays, television shows, and sitcoms.

More recently, Lewis had a starring role as Ruby Johnson in the ABC comedy series, Black-ish.

Known unofficially as “The Mother of Black Hollywood” she provided 911s students with some motherly advice telling them to never give up on their dreams, and to always have a close friend who will love you enough to tell you the truth.

Lewis also gave students autographed copies of her memoir, Walking in My Joy in These Streets she also took time to take photos with students and staff.

The visit was provided by RDEVIA.org, a nonprofit organization that was established by former graduates of 911.

Congresswoman Val Demings also attended the Homecoming Student Leadership Summit.
